We have been twice (2011 and 2024). For both trips we went on Wednesday and Thursday. There is only one session (morning) on Wednesday, but it includes a Mass Ascension, just like the weekends. On T…Full review by Mike B

The event itself was very fun and pleasant. Vivid, happy people, planes flying over. Well worth seeing once. In need of improvement the ride back to the church parking lot...staffed by over bearing, …Full review by tombo4ahi

What an amazing event. It's an early morning to go to the event. We drove our vehicle and parked there for $20. There were lots of golf carts to shuttle you to the main gate. We pre purchased passes…Full review by Scenic738816
Looking for recommendations on which hotels we should consider for our 2020 Balloon Festival trip. Should the hotel be located close to the balloon festival site? Is it best to take the bus shuttle in, use a hotel shuttle, or drive in ourselves? We have also investigated the Gondola Club..is that a worthwhile way to see the balloons as well? This trip is on our bucket list and we want to do it "right". Thank you!

As long as you plan to arrive at sunrise, driving and parking is fine. Exiting was also easy. Thus, you can book at a hotel of your choice.
Rv parking Was wondering if there is rv parking for the day? We don't want to stay overnight just for the day. If not, is there a place to park a long trailer near - willing to watch from a distance

We stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on Americas Parkway NE and could see them from the roof top easily. If I were you, I would take I25 north from I40 and take the first exit, 228, after you start traveling north. There are several fast food places that you can park, get a coffee or food, and watch the ascension in the early morning with NONE of the traffic! Magnificent photos from there too! We did this and the balloon were literally landing just blocks from us as the wind was blowing to the south slightly.
Will there be any special shape balloons on the first Saturday? (Not only during the Special Shape Rodeo)?
A:
We were there in 2015 and 2018. Both times they had "special shaped balloons. Enjoy. Get there real early....4:00AM, you will not regret it. Hopefully your day will be sunny. Dress in layers....
