It's a beautiful zoo, a great layout and is easy to navigate. It was HOT!! I appreciated the cool-down water misters! I suggest, if its going to be hot, go early and get out by midday, animals not in…Full review by CarolineA3408

This is virtual paradise for animals living here. Viewing them is almost impossible if you don't go at the perfect time. For example, on a relatively cool day, we toured the Gorilla Rainforest at 10…Full review by Navigate48480835753

Hi, I just got back from Melbourne and would definitely recommend a visit. Most everything is accessible by public transit (trams and trains mostly) I picked up a myki card and put some money on it so I could just tap on/off the trams/trains as needed. Trams are free in central business district. If you like walks take the train to geelong and walk the beaches and check out the bollards. Also Brighton beach was a beautiful walk with the city skyline in the distance. A tram ride out to St. Kilda before sunset to see the little penguins is also great. I also did the coach trip to Phillip Island but didn't book in advance, went through an outfit called last minute tours and got on. Probably advance booking is a safer idea. Tons to do and see in Melbourne itself, make sure you have accommodation booked in advance as lots of sporting events fill the rooms often. I stayed at the Sky High apartments. Little more money but well worth it. Right close to Southern Cross Station. Hope that helps :) Enjoy the trip.
What animal was on top of the roundabout which had the words fighting animal extinction I got a photo of the roundabout but didn't get a good view of the animal on top of it

Sorry, didn't have a good look at the merry-go-round; maybe you could ask on the Zoo site itself?
When is the best time to arrive to avoid long queues as it’s school holidays now (Melb)?
A:
We visited the zoo during school holidays and found that the queue moved very quickly. We did arrive in the morning though. Food is very expensive so make sure you take your own.
