With the Texas Hill Country still recovering from flooding, Gov. Greg Abbott has activated emergency teams ahead of more potential heavy rain.
The system is expected to remain disorganized and move inland quickly, with flood watches issued for areas along the Gulf Coast.
The National Weather Service office in Ruskin said there was a "marginal" risk for heavy rains and severe weather for west Florida. But the two-day rain forecast for Sarasota-Bradenton as for a quarter- to half-inch of rain through Friday morning.
Chief meteorologist Tom Terry said Friday that Invest 93L is very disorganized and will likely remain that way this weekend.
