NASCAR heads back to the United States after a trip to Mexico City. The first Mexico race may not be the last. Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez hosted Xfinity Series and Cup Series events over the weekend.

NASCAR's recent visit to Mexico changed the perception some drivers had of the country and delivered two races full of excitement — something that has been lacking at times in Formula 1 events at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. Despite a thrilling weekend a great enthusiasm from the fans, the future of the event remains uncertain for 2026.

Shane van Gisbergen won the pole for the Viva Mexico 250 in qualifying on Saturday, setting the fastest time (92.776, 93.904 mph) in a session that was cut short by rain. Van Gisbergen's pole is his first of the season and the second of his Cup career.

It's expected to be 74 degrees with a 21% chance of rain at the start of the Xfinity race.
