Four police officers were called heroes in their efforts to rescue eight people, including children, from a burning home early Tuesday in Farmington Hills, Michigan.The fire was reported about 5 a.m.

Farmington Hills firefighters were called at about 5 a.m. to the single-family home on 10 Mile Road near Middlebelt for a report of a fire, the chief said. He said police officers and firefighters arrived to find heavy fire and smoke coming from the home.

Twelve people have been hospitalized, including four police officers, after a fire destroyed a home in Farmington Hills.
