The rescinding of $1.1 billion in federal support for public media resulted in the Corporation for Public Broadcasting announcing its closure.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) announced on July 31 that it would start shutting down its operations following the current administration rescinding $1.1 billion in funding for the nonprofit.

PBS Charlotte is losing $1.2 million following federal funding cuts and will “continue to operate in the near term,” as it assesses the long-term impacts, a spokesperson told The Charlotte Observer.
