Indianapolis Colts receiver Alec Pierce walked into the locker room Wednesday, took a peek a couple of lockers away and found an old friend, two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner.

Downs is giving up his No. 1 jersey with the Colts for Indianapolis' new cornerback, Sauce Gardner. Hours after the Colts acquired the former New York Jets cornerback in a blockbuster NFL trade deadline deal, the team announced that Gardner would continue wearing No. 1 with his new team. Downs will wear No. 2 going forward.

Gardner was traded to Indianapolis on Tuesday for a first-round draft pick in 2026 and another in 2027, along with wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. A few hours later, Williams was dealt to Dallas for a second-round pick in 2026,
