Multiple states are under winter weather advisories and could see inches of snow. Florida and other parts of the south are suffering with unusual cold
Multiple states across the U.S. have been hit with winter storm warnings, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS), which could bring up to 10 inches of snow in some areas, from Tuesday morning into the afternoon and in some cases, even Wednesday through to Thursday night.
Snowfall totals as high as 13 inches in Pleasant Prairie were reported, according to the National Weather Service.
Lake-effect snow will taper off across Northeast Ohio on Tuesday, with temperatures gradually warming through midweek and into the weekend.
Multiple states were expected to see snow on Tuesday, while widespread freeze warnings spanned the southern U.S.
These conditions will trigger lake-effect and terrain-enhanced snow showers, primarily affecting areas along and northwest of the Interstate 99 and U.S. Route 220 corridor. Snow accumulations are expected in the favored snowbelts, ridgetops, and summits along the Allegheny Plateau.
The arctic front delivered on threats of “big time snow” in the North Carolina mountains, where strong gusts of up to 50 mph created blizzard like conditions.
Still, it wasn't the earliest snow of the winter season in Nashville. According to the weather service, the earliest measurable snowfall was one inch on Oct. 30, 1925. It wasn't even the most snow seen on Nov. 10. In 1996, the weather service measured 1.3 inches, according to historical data.
Rain and snow showers are forecast across parts of western and northern Pennsylvania today, accompanied by breezy conditions with wind gusts reaching 20 to 30 mph. Temperatures will remain below average, ranging from the upper 30s in northern regions to the lower 50s southeast of Interstate 81.
