Texas assistant coach Elana Lovato made a bold statement to head coach Vic Schaefer last month after the Longhorns were overwhelmed in a 17-point loss to South Carolina.

The Longhorns' win shifts the picture at the top of women’s college basketball with only a handful of regular-season games to play.

The battle between No. 2 South Carolina and No. 4 Texas doesn't have a long list of games, but now the two programs are both in the SEC. South Carolina has won three in a row in the series, however. With just five meetings between these powerhouses, the series is tight at 3-2 in favor of South Carolina.
