President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin engaged in a roughly 90-minute phone call late Tuesday morning that might lead to ending the war in Ukraine.

President Vladimir Putin refused to give Donald Trump the 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine he and his team had demanded on the path toward ending the three-year conflict. It was still good enough for the US president.

Last week, the US and Ukraine proposed a 30-day ceasefire during talks held in Saudi Arabia. At that time, the Trump administration had temporarily paused the supply of weapons and intelligence sharing with Ukraine.
