Fire officials in Carmel are warning residents about a dangerous trend after batteries and charging equipment have contributed to a string of recent fires.

The fire department is asking people not keep batteries plugged in indefinitely for things like drills, leave blowers, lawn mowers, e-bikes, scooters or power tools.

Firefighters quickly put out a vehicle fire involving a US Postal Service delivery truck in Putnam County, officials said.
