SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA - A preliminary 2.9 magnitude quake was recorded close to Corralitos on Sunday around midday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake’s epicenter was near San Marcos near the Pacific coast resort of Acapulco, according to Mexico ’s national seismological agency.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.5 with the epicenter near the Pacific coast resort town of Acapulco.
