Donald Trump vetoed an Israeli plan to kill Khamenei, refusing to entertain the idea of “going after the political leadership” on the grounds that Iran had not killed any Americans.

President Trump opposed a recent Israeli plan to kill Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, three U.S. officials told CBS News on Sunday.

At least 224 people have been killed since Israel began bombing Iran on Friday, Iranian state media reported, while Iranian retaliatory strikes have killed at least 24 people in Israel.

Global oil prices rose on Monday after the conflict between Israel and Iran escalated over the weekend.
