LOS ANGELES (AP) — Austin Reaves scored 38 points, Luka Doncic added 35 points and 11 assists in his third meeting with his former team, and the Lakers spoiled Anthony Davis’ return to Los Angeles with a 129-119 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night.

While Luka Doncic will always be in the spotlight when the Lakers face the Mavericks, Austin Reaves played a big role in Los Angeles' win over Dallas.

The Lakers beat the Mavericks 129-119 in their post-Thanksgiving showdown. James tallied 13 points, five rebounds, seven assists and a steal. Doncic added 35 points, five boards and 11 dimes, while Austin Reaves led the scoring for L.A. with 38.

Friday’s game comes less than nine months after since-fired Dallas general manager Nico Harrison engineered the controversial trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers.

The Los Angeles Lakers will continue to be without their best defensive player, Marcus Smart, in Thursday's clash against the Toronto Raptors.

In a further blow to their already fragile rotation, the Mavericks announced that Klay Thompson would be unavailable for the game Saturday against the Clippers as he continues to manage a left knee injury. However, a short time later, the injury report was updated to say that Thompson is available to play.
