A powerful winter storm system moving across the Great Lakes and Northeast is bringing snow and ice, frigid temperatures and possible whiteout conditions.

“Although we have been experiencing some unusually warm and spring-like weather, winter is coming,” Maddie Garbalagtys, a CDOT spokesperson said. Garbalagtys said crews are working ahead of time to make sure the plows are ready to get back on the road, since it has been a very dry winter with minimal snowfall.
