Mourners are gathering to honor the late U.S. Rep. Sylvester Turner of Texas as he lies in state at Houston's city hall.

Turner died Wednesday in his Washington, D.C., apartment. He was 70. On Tuesday, Houston City Hall welcomed Turner for a final time to honor that legacy.

Sylvester Turner, 70, died on March 5 at his home in Washington, D.C., from what his family described as “enduring health complications.”
