California Gov. Gavin Newsom and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi have appeared shoulder-to-shoulder with Texas Democratic lawmakers in a show of support for their nearly weeklong walkout.

Despite threats of arrest, losing their pay and other threats, calls from the governor, the majority of the Democrats did not appear for the special session when it started at 2 p.m. ET and no quorum was reached.

The Texas House of Representatives failed to meet quorum for the third time this week as a dramatic political standoff continues to unfold. On Friday, only 95 of the 150 members showed up—five short of the 100 needed to conduct official business.
