On Wednesday, the Iowa State basketball team broke two program records in a win over Alcorn State on Wednesday.

Ten Blue Raiders scored and the Middletown girls basketball jumped out to a 23-point lead through one quarter en route to a 62-17 defeat of East Pennsboro Friday night. Jayla Koser and Destiney Gassert shared top scoring honors for Middletown (1-0) with 12 points, followed by Aja Rossum (8) and Rylee Cavrich (7).

Caleb Ackley registered a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds, and tacked on four steals, to pace Hart, while Kolton Rockwell added 14 points, Luke Vanderwilk had 10 points and six rebounds, Jagger Lenon had nine points and seven rebounds and Lorenzo Furlan had eight points and two assists.

Villa Park takes control of the contest early and rolls to a victory in the game between two teams ranked in the Top 10.

Landon Sallie scored a game-high 42 points, including six three-pointers, as Big Spring boys basketball defeated York Tech 87-62 Friday. Sallie opened the game with 16 points in the first quarter and finished with 23 points at halftime. The Bulldogs held a 52-30 lead heading into the locker rooms.

LeBron James’ NBA-record run of 1,297 consecutive regular-season games with at least 10 points ended Thursday night at Toronto, and he was the one who made the decision to have it end. Instead of trying to score to win the game — and extend his streak — he set up Rui Hachimura for a game-winning shot.

Six Muhlenberg players scored eight or more points as the Mules defeated Cedar Crest 63-54 in a non-league boys basketball game on Friday night. Eli Hemmings and Josh Miller each scored 12 points for the Muhls, Michael Miller had 11, Justin Armstrong had 10 Jadin Perez added 9 and Nelson Malare 8.

Saugus senior Braydon Harmon finishes with 23 points, 15 rebounds and two steals as the Centurions finish on a 15-0 run late in the fourth quarter of a 64-50 win.
