New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye was named a Pro Bowl alternate on Tuesday. The UNC product will be replacing Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who declined to participate in the game.

The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Maye is the first Patriots quarterback to make the Pro Bowl since 2022, when Mac Jones made the game as an alternate during his rookie season. Jones went 12-for-16 in the game for 112 yards, a touchdown, and an interception.

On Tuesday, the league announced that Patriots quarterback Drake Maye will replace Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson on the AFC roster. In his rookie campaign, Maye completed 66.6% of his passes for 2,276 yards, 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while also rushing for 421 yards and two more scores in 13 games (12 starts).

A predictably poor New England Patriots 2024 season ended substantially better than it started: Drake Maye proved himself to be the talent that the Patriots thought he was when they selected him with the 3rd overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft;

New England Patriots commentator and former quarterback Scott Zolak says newly-hired offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels won't force Drake Maye to run the Tom Brady-style offense. There have been some concerns over Maye being the right fit for the way McDaniels has called the offense in the past for New England.

The rookie replaces Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who opted out after Buffalo lost in the AFC Championship Game.
