The Boston Red Sox have been in an interesting situation with designated hitter Rafael Devers all season. Devers already made one major sacrifice in 2025, giving up his longtime role at third base after the team signed Alex Bregman to take over the position.

On Wednesday, against the Texas Rangers, Casas’ replacement, Romy Gonzalez, was attempting to beat out an infield single to third base. He collided with first baseman Josh Smith in the 6th inning and left the game with an injury. According to the team, it isn't anything too concerning, and he's considered day-to-day.
