Chase Elliott had a topsy-turvy race weekend at Dover as the Hendrick Motorsports driver started the race from pole, was leading the race at one point, but finished in sixth place.

Chase Elliott has been awarded the pole for Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Dover (2 p.m. ET, TNT Sports) after qualifying was rained out.

Despite clinching the pole position at the AutoTrader EchoPark Automotive 400 race at Dover Motor Speedway, Hendrick Motorsports driver Chase Elliott got tangled in a pit road blunder.

And, although the No. 9 did not lead every lap, after surviving a late challenge from the likes of Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin, Elliott converted his pole into the stage win after 120 laps of action. Rounding out the top 10 were Chase Briscoe, Ty Gibbs, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano and Kyle Larson, who rose 15 spots during the opening stage.
