Julia Garner said the Madonna biopic is still in the works and explained how she got the job in a new podcast interview.

During a recent interview on the SmartLess podcast, the actress was asked by hosts Will Arnett, Sean Hayes and Jason Bateman for a status update on where the shelved Universal biopic stands, to which she responded, “Yeah, I mean, that’s supposed to still happen.”

Julia Garner having to sing and dance like Madonna in front of the pop star may have been a terrifying experience, but embracing that pressure would perfectly capture Madonna’s fearless energy. As someone who wasn’t afraid to push the envelope in the music industry, it’s no wonder the “Hung Up” singer was taken with Garner’s audition.
