Kashmiris have denounced last week’s deadly militant assault on tourists in Pahalgam but fear they will be caught in the widening Indian clampdown.

Dozens of Pakistani nationals living in India are heading to the main land crossing between India and Pakistan, following New Delhi's decision to order almost all Pakistani citizens to leave the country after last week's deadly attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir.

Hindu-majority India has been fighting an armed insurgency in Kashmir for decades, though in recent years the situation had improved. The picturesque region is claimed in full by both India and Pakistan but ruled only in part by the neighbours.
