Pixar showed up to the Annecy International Animation Festival with the goods. The animation studio announced a new film slated for the summer of 2027, an original film called “Gatto” from “Luca” director Enrico Casarosa.

The first section of the Pixar showcase was dedicated to footage and art from the studio’s next release, Elio, which lands in cinemas on June 20. Co-directors Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian were joined by producer Mary Alice Drumm to present the footage.

Pixar is returning to Italy, and this time, it’s through the eyes of a black cat with a debt to the feline mob. At the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Pixar’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter surprised fans with the reveal of Gatto ,
