Former Archbishop of Agaña Michael J. Byrnes, who was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease, died Saturday morning, Guam time, according to church officials. He was 66.
The purchased property includes the archbishop’s residence, where the late Pope John Paul II, who later became a saint, stayed overnight during his historic visit to Guam on Feb. 22 and 23, 1981.
