JTG Daugherty Racing started off as a team which fielded cars in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and later on expanded operations to NASCAR Cup Series. The team started racing in NASCAR in 1995.

Gary Dale Daugherty, 77, of Owensboro, KY passed away on Feb. 10, 2025, at Specialty Select Hospital. Gary was born in Sorgho on Jan. 20, 1948, to the late Earl and Lillian Sue Bowlds Daugherty.
