Heartland churches are hosting "Night to Shine", a prom night for individuals with disabilities Friday, Feb. 7. The event features a red carpet, karaoke and a crowning ceremony, celebrating guests as Kings and Queens.

An annual prom held for those with special needs will take place next month in Wilmington.Port City Community Church and other local churches will come together to host Night to Shine on Friday, February 7.

Those interested in participating or volunteering can register on the church’s website to be part of this incredible evening.

People with special needs got the chance to pick out a prom dress Wednesday for the annual Night to Shine event.

The “Night to Shine” event sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation, a nonprofit started by the star athlete, is held simultaneously every year at hundreds of churches worldwide, including at Crestview Church of Christ in Waco. The prom is for participants over the age of 14 to enjoy a night of karaoke, dancing, music, great good and limo rides.

New Beginnings Baptist Church in Longview will hold Night to Shine on Feb. 7 for people with special needs. The annual event held by hundreds of churches across the globe the Friday before Valentine's Day is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.

On Feb. 7, Mercy Road Church Northeast in Fortville will be among hundreds of churches worldwide to host a Night to Shine, a prom for people with special needs. It’s the first year the church has hosted the event, which was created by Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL player Tim Tebow.
