This is in sharp contrast to his earlier stance where he had called competing with OpenAI on AI models a totally “hopeless” endeavour, particularly for young Indian startups.

IT Minister highlighted India's cost-effective approach to space exploration, specifically the Chandrayaan-2 mission, and expressed confidence that India could similarly develop large language models (LLMs) at a fraction of the cost compared to other countries.
