What is Polarization? IXPE is NASA’s first mission to study the polarization of X-rays from many different types of celestial objects. By studying polarization it will give us insight into our understanding of X-ray production in objects such as neutron stars and pulsar wind nebulae, as well as stellar and supermassive black holes. #IXPE is scheduled to launch early in the morning Dec. 9, at 1 a.m. EST.
