We're excited the new osprey pair are spending time on the Loch Arkaig nest. They appear to be very young birds, potentially only two or three years old, and on their first migration back to the UK. We don't think they are capable of breeding yet, although it can't be ruled out. It's quite normal for very young ospreys like this to have a first year where they begin to bond as a pair but don't actually raise any chicks. We hope they stick around so we can watch their antics over the summer. Keep

Ospreys are pretty good at catching fish. Sometimes their excellent hunting skills reward them with 2. Both of these floppy danglers are catfish and the local fishing regulations dictate 1 catfish per Osprey dive. You know what that means? This bird is breaking the law. Team parenting skills on nest two! 💪 It's fairly unusual (but not unheard of) to see male ospreys feeding their chicks. Mum usually takes on that role, and dad does the fishing. In this case, dad Blue 476 is passing food over to mum Blue 717 to feed their remaining chick.
