Salt Lake City was hit by a tornado so strong it ripped the roof off the Delta Center… and almost no one saw it coming. On August 11, 1999, an F2 tornado touched down near 200 S & 1000 W and carved a path straight through downtown — hitting the Depot, the Triad Center, the Salt Palace, the Delta Center, Memory Grove, and the Avenues.
