At the Glider Collection Museum we spoke with Anne Gardner, daughter of Staff Sergeant William “Bill” Henry Wastell of the Glider Pilot Regiment. On 24 September 1944, he was wounded by a mortar at the Hartenstein Hotel in Oosterbeek during Operation Market Garden.
