Did you know that the funeral effigy of Elizabeth I at Westminster Abbey is not entirely original? 👑 Following her death in 1603, Elizabeth’s coffin was carried through London topped with a life-sized wooden effigy of the queen, dressed in royal garments and crowned as part of her funeral procession. Today, the effigy on display in the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Galleries is an 18th century reconstruction… but the original corset from the 1603 effigy still survives. Elizabeth I was originally buri
